Explaining DNS in Basic Terms

Now, if no record is located in a local cache memory of your computer, then send a request to your Internet service provider (ISP) to find the IP address that contains Google.com. This is the next step DNS process. Your ISP then sends a request to the DNS server will then look up the address to find the right IP address for a particular web page or site. This is known as DNS. If you can not find it, then your ISP will ask the same thing from another DNS. It will go on and on until your ISP finds the correct server contains the information requested.
